With its immaculate efforts, English Literary Association at SFS PU College strives to foster the flair for English Literature and Language Skills in students.
*The faculty members of English Department, periodically mentor and nurture a number of enterprising students to showcase their public speaking and creative writing skills. Besides, they hone their skills at reading, listening, vocabulary, grammar and comprehension through activities.
*These essential skills pave the way to explore the literary world and articulate their thoughts effectively and creatively for future endeavours. Altogether, it opens up a whole world of opportunities.
*Keeping this motive alive, Literary Association organised various contests for the academic year 2024-2025.
*These contests stimulated students’ creative thinking and confidence and encouraged them to display their novel ideas through active engagement.
*The first and foremost literary event for the academic year 2024-2025 was ‘PICTURE TO POEM’.
*It was held on 25-07-2024 for testing their imaginative artistic talent and language skills.
*An intriguing picture was presented on the screen for an hour and the students were sent on a voyage to their imaginary world and bring forth their poetic prowess.
*The response by the students was quite overwhelming both in number and poetic talent.
*A good number of quality poems were penned down by them.
*Later on, notice board on each floor bore these prize winning poems motivating some more students.
*The second event ‘THINK BEFORE YOU INK’was organised on 26-07-24 for enhancing their skills at vocabulary.
*Word grid and crossword puzzles were asked to solve.
*A large number of participants enthusiastically took part with zeal and competitive spirit.
*These enthusiastic participants proved their mettle in the best possible way.
*Last but not the least, Standup Comedy which is first of its own kind at SFS PU College was organised on 27-07-2024.
*Students devised sarcasm, wit and skilfully crafted comedy based on real life situations.
*It too was well received and appreciated by both participants and the audience.
*Such events do appreciate and reward students with great opportunities to kindle their creativite capabilities. They would be able to overcome stage fright and low self confidence by taking part in such competitions.
*With the assistance of such activities, they would develop interest in the literary world and acquire the skills needed to showcase their talents effectively.














  Showcasing Young Minds:

Saint Francis Sales Pre-University College’s Vibrant English Literary Odyssey

Saint Francis Sales Pre-University College recently hosted a range of engaging English activities for its students, aiming to foster creativity, confidence, and language skills.

1. Spell Bee Contest (I PU):
Conducted in two rounds, the contest tested students' spelling skills. In the oral spelling round, participants spelled words aloud, and the top scorers proceeded to the written spelling test. A rapid-fire round was held for students with a tie, where they had to spell as many words as possible within a minute.

2. Cook Up a Story (I PU):
Students created short stories with morals based on image prompts. The final round required participants to narrate their stories within 3-5 minutes, showcasing creativity, originality, and language skills.

3. Word Mash-Up (II PU):
Students crafted poems using 6-8 given poetic words, demonstrating creativity and originality. The poems were judged on language, expression, structure, and presentation.

4. Dramatic Monologue (II PU):
Participants wrote and performed original monologues, portraying historical or fictional characters. The performances were evaluated on costume, expression, voice modulation, characterization, and stage presence.

The final rounds for I PU and II PU activities were held in the auditorium on 16 th and 23 rd August 2025, respectively. Judges panel included faculty of S.F.S High School and P.U. College. Esteemed judges were felicitated with flowers and gifts for their expertise and cooperation. Students from all streams participated enthusiastically, showcasing their talents and creativity. The events concluded with prize distribution, recognizing the winners' achievements and encouraging future participation.
