Report on visit to Maria Nivas Old-Age Home

The arts department students of SFS P.U College organise a heartfelt outreach programme by visiting Maria Nivas Old Age Home in Huskur on December 2nd .the purpose of the visit was to spread joy, love and companionship among the elderly residents and to engage them through cultural and recreational activities.

The programme commenced at 10:AM with prayer song, setting a serene and respectful atmosphere. This was followed by a series of vibrant cultural performances by the students .which included solo dance ,solo singing ,group dance Christmas carols and a cheerful Santa that brought smiles to everyone present. Students also distributed chocolates ,adding sweetness to the celebrations.

As a gesture of love and support, the students offered the residents flowers, handmade cards and essential groceries that would contribute to their daily needs. These gifts symbolized care ,respect and the spirit of giving. The elderly women were participated enthusiastically. Their active involvement created moments of laughter and joy ,making the event even more memorable

One of the highlights of the day was delightful dance performance by the sisters from the convent, which added warmth and unity to the celebration. The old age home houses 18 elderly women, all of whom enjoyed the programme wholeheartedly. They shared their memories, experience and even some of their sorrows appreciating the companionship and joy brought by the students. Many of them joined in dancing ,expressing their happiness and gratitude.

To conclude the visit ,the students presented with a small token of love in the form of thoughtful gifts marking the end of a touching and meaningful event. The Visit to Maria Nivas Old age Home was a deeply enriching experience for the students of SFS P U College . It fostered empathy, social responsibility and the value of compassion. The interaction left a lasting impact on both the students and the residents, strengthening the bond between genrrations.
