Teacher's Seminar
With regard to empowering educators, ‘Life Skills and Leadership training’ program was organized in the college auditorium on 18th June, 2016. In a highly conducive environment, amidst the potential educators, a formal welcome was accorded to the resource person Mr. Wilson Joseph, CEO of project Effatha by Principal Rev. Father Saji. After having him introduced to the educators and an exchange of pleasantries, a soul-stirring morning session with a host of thought provoking activities was followed.
The session was indeed filled with a blend of activities, visuals, work-sheets, role-plays, demonstrations and discussions. The power-packed session fully loaded with activities, kept them keenly interested and alert throughout. They spoke of their virtues and also got to know’ what they are’ from their colleagues. It set them on the quest of self- discovery. Self awareness cum personal effectiveness is the need of the hour for a strong nation.
In addition to this, very effective in puts were given by Mr. Wilson Joseph along with the activities. It enabled them to be reflective and introspect on their vital role in building a strong nation. The ultimate purpose of the training of program is to identify, modify and re-discover oneself so that educators as sculptors could carve the marvels to the future of India. The morning session came to an end with this refined perception in the minds of educators .
Post –lunch session resumed at 1:30 pm and it focused on the issues of holistic development of children, stressed on curbing monotony.
It was all about helping the young students to transform into strong individuals. Understand the mind and perceiving the student from his/her point of view. Creating an amiable environment through ice-breakers and non- verbal tools. Here again, a good number of visuals-supported with a brief discussion of analysis for each case study helped teachers with the concrete idea of creating a comfortable classroom.
Teachers were given a fair idea and the session worked as an eye -opener as it cleared many misconceptions. It brought to light many aspects of holistic education. The session has been beneficial and path setting for all educators.
